A few things to share


HOW TO GET BACK TO THE REAL SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS
 
  • Spend time with someone you love.
  • Forgive a person that has hurt you.
  • Remember your innocence.
  • Help another in need.
  • Count your blessings.
  • Say a prayer when actions won't help.
  • Say you're sorry.
  • Be patient with sales clerks, slow lines and other frustrated customers.
  • Make kindness a priority.
  • Give a gift for no other reason than to make another smile.
  • Wear something out of the ordinary that makes you feel magical and amazing.
  • Write a letter to a long lost friend.
  • Plant a tree.
  • Clean out your closets and give the extras away to a homeless shelter.
  • Tithe more than you intended to your local charity.
  • Have faith in others.
  • Keep a promise.
  • Nurture yourself.
  • Smile.
  • Throw a party for all the people that have supported you over the years as your way of saying "Thank you."
  • Feed the hungry.
  • Dance.
  • Laugh more than you think you should at jokes that aren't usually funny.
  • Make someone feel special.
  • Kiss under the mistletoe.
  • Take a photo with Santa.
  • Light a candle to remind yourself of the light you are to the world.
  • Write a list or make a photo collage of your dreams, desires and aspirations for next year.
  • Be willing to be awed and inspired.
  • Decide to believe in yourself.
  • Know that anything is possible.
  • Sing at the top of your lungs.
  • Relish each moment of life.
  • Wish everyone you meet Happy Holidays and mean it.
  • Be delighted.

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider
Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. we have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgement, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smore to omuch, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We multiplied or possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up thei air, but polluted the soul, we've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete... Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

December 23rd 2008 Update

About 6-8 weeks ago I kept on getting sick, not enough to be bed ridden but enough to make me not function 100%. I could not put a finger on it, just a feeling of being unwell, headaches, nausea. Nothing I did cured whatever ailed me.

I finally succumbed and went to the doctor and had to take a barrage of blood tests mainly to check if I was iron deficient, diabetic, had under active thyroid, under active supral renal gland, depression, lymphoma.

So today I found out that my iron count is >3 which is the lowest the doctor had ever seen anyone go to, three months ago I was at 7. I am also deficient in vitamin D (sunlight) so I had better go and sit in the sun for a few minutes a day.

Whew what a relief that was to finally put a name to it.

The girls arrived yesterday and I am so happy, haven't seen them since October, they're always good to have around but being unwell isn't helping me as I can't really go out for fear of collapsing as I constantly feel light headed with this dull headache throbbing constanly.
