Coldest day in Canberra

I don't remember it being so cold here in Canberra
as it has been for the past few days,
today the reading is -4C, no wonder my
bag of ice didn't want to melt.
I took these photos at midday today and you can see the fog
on the hill up the back of our house.

The snow fields recorded 48cm of snowfall on the weekend
and because we are north of Cooma
(local joke here about the suburb we live in
which I call the end of Canberra), we tend to
experience the effects of the snowfall.
I can't wait for it to snow in my backyard again
like it did last September

Just to show you how cold it is,
on the weekend I threw this bag of ice that was
in the freezer that I had in there for summer
well today the bag of ice is still there unmelted so does
that say that the air outside is as cold as my freezer?
When I visited my inlaws in Michigan one Christmas
I thought it was quite funny that they put all their
drinks and food out on the back porch but it makes
sense and gives one more freezer room to store
it in natures freezer!!!
Just been chilling the past few days,
have a few issues I need to deal with
and a few aches and pains brought on by this cold snap,
so I've been taking it one day at a time.

p.s.My bag of ice finally melted on the 4th day of exposure

  3. Hi Bridet,

Google's translator handles idiomatic language better than BF. It's not perfect but it's fairly close except for the last word. But then Brazilian Portueguese is a tad different since it has Spanish blended into it.

Oi. Congratulations on your excellent blog. I would like to invite to visit my blog and learn something about our fight against communism here in Brazil. Abrasive

Here in Southern Oregon we too use our back step for cold storage but in my case it's always an iffy thing. The back step is accessible by animals (wild and tame) and living out in the country with bears, cougars and other assorted wildlife it's always a bit chancey putting stuff out there. Most of the time its fine but others....

Thanks for sharing the Australian experience with the rest of us.

Hugs from a sister demo - Jean
