Friday Fences #5

Some of you may or may not know that I love Photography.
Not very good at it, I only have a point and shoot Nikon camera.
My gorgeous daughter Emma is studying photography
and has a real eye for it and I love her work.
Janis introduced Friday Fences
I thought I'd share my own fence in the front of the complex.
Back fence
ENJOY and come back on Friday,
I hope to find more fences
to share with you.
You have got to check out this awesome fence.
Fayes' unusual fence, what a lot of work.

7 Layer dip

Well I have loved this recipe since I was introduced to it
at a workshop by Debby M, although everytime I make it
I eat way too much as it is soo moorish.
Today was one of those days.
I thought I would share with you all so you can
make it yourself and enjoy it as well.
I made two dishes today, one to take to an all day craft
and one for home, I dont think I could face the one at home.
Here are some sites with the recipes of varying ingredients
and titles.
My variation is putting the cucumber in  as well,
gives a nice crisp crunch to it. I also add
shallots or scallions to mine.
ENJOY!

2 avocados
1 tsp lemon juice
garlic seasoning to taste
1 tin refried beans
1/2 jar salsa
1 cup sour cream
taco seasoning
grated cheese
1 tomato
1 lebanese or telegraph cucumber
2 sprigs spring onion
1/2 cup chopped olives
extras our cream
sweet chilli sauce

Mash avocado with a little lemon juice
add garlic seasoning to taste
spread onto bottom of glass dish.
Mix refried beans with salads
spread over the avocado.

Mix 1/2-1 cup soup cream with
taco seasoning, add a little at a time
until you get the taste you like.
Spread that over the refried bean mix.
Sprinkle grated cheese,
then finely diced tomato and cucumber
chopped spring onions, chopped olives
and garnish with a little sour cream and
sweet chilli sauce.

Serve with your favourite corn chips.

WOYWW #125

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday #125

I have forgotten to tell you all about who started this
For the first time I have been able to bloghop
to a few links and leave comments.
I hope to visit all the blogs in the links to say thanks for
their eye candy and wonderful ideas.
I actually look forward to Wednesdays now
(today is Monday and I'm already
wanting it to be Wednesday LOL)
So I did promise some of you that I would show you (shock horror!!) the rest of my craft space other than the dining table which in this case is the floor underneath and the side table where everything else is stored.  But there is story as to why its like this and has been for the past year~story at end

So now I can show you what I've been working on the past couple of weeks, it was a Christmas card swap which I was hosting on BSL, an online craft group.
I needed a magnifying glass to cut otherwise my eyes go all blurry after awhile and it's very annoying,
I have glasses but they don't seem to stop the blurrying
Come back and visit my next post with a Christmas ornament
and a blog hop of the same to see some great ideas

Weekend at Mollymook

I mentioned in yesterdays post our weekend away
at Mollymook, gorgeous place right on the beach.
We had dinner at the Mollymook Golf Club.
I wasn't very hungry and ordered an entree
of Buffalo wings, well when it arrived it
was entree size hee hee, 3 single wings, luckily
I ordered some chips to go with it.
Anyway we went home and there was a
yummy chocolate cake made by the very
talented Sharon and I couldn't even eat that.
So the 3 chicken wings were probably enough for me.
oh I know why I was so full, I had made
a 7 layer dip for lunch and it was yummy,
Instead of lettuce I put cucumbers and tomatoes.
I think I had too much.
Anyway this is the card I very productively made

The background is a stamp from Stampin Up called
Parlor Prints 125026 page 100
Ideas Book and Catalogue 2011-2012
The card has 2 1/2 flaps, 2 flaps measure 11cm
and the third flap is half that size, width is 14.75cm
Embossed in gold.
The medallion die is by Nellie (I think)

A sneak peek at the stuff I am playing with on my desk.
Surprisingly the desk is still clean lol.
Funny how when ones desk is clean you don't
want to craft and mess it up.
And when it's messy you just keep crafting
and have piles and piles of stuff you have to rummage
through to find what you want

WOYWW 124

Yep I missed a week
But I have a clean desk woohoo

The photographic tent takes up a third of my
150cm x 150cm desk dining table.
I finally got enough cheap lamps to act
as lighting, I only had 3 before and the
light sucked when I took photos

Laid out the stamps I am going to use.
Some cute flowers I tried to make on the weekend away
down the coast. Was not very productive at all
but it was a nice weekend away with lovely
ladies Anna and Penelope and of course hubby
and adorable Zara the LARGE poodle.
She kept me in stitches with all her antics-
the funniest of all was when Michael was scratching
her belly, she was flat on her back with all 4 paws
sprawled out and one paw stuck right under
Michaels armpit, everytime he pulled the paw out
she'd shove it right back up there.
The rain poured down but crafting is enjoyed
indoors so we were good

(ok I cheated these are not today's photos
but the clean desk one is)
Some progress in this photo.
Three projects going on at once hahaha!!!
Flowers, red strip of flowers and
a book of instructions for something
I am planning to design.
I won't say yet what it is or it might
give the game away!
There you go!! Today's photo of the whole desk
area, not very successful trying to clean up the
extended desk, ready for Saturday when my
crafting friends come over to play.

Pav Pav Pav Pavlova!!!!!!!!!!!

Yummy Pavlova!!

Once a month I get the privilege of eating Pavlova
Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert named
after the Russian ballet dancer
Anna Pavlova
It is a merinque with a crips crust and soft, light inner.
The dessert is believed to have been created in
honour of the dancer either during or after
one of her tours to
Australia and New Zealand in the 1920s.
The nationality of its creator has been a
source of argument between the two nations for
 many years, but formal research
indicates New Zealand as the more probably source.
(damn and I kept telling my husband its an Australian dessert).
The dessert is a popular dish and an important
part of the national cuisine of both countries,
and with its simple recipe,
is frequently served during celebratory
and holiday meals.
(yippee making paper shoes and
other papercrafts is a celebration!)

So this is my first try at making a Pavlova.
After 10 minutes of this I'm thinking I've failed!
Ok something is happening here after 15 mins
I worked out the macro on my camera to take
a moving shot, was pretty excited to see movement
in my still photos
Then its HOLY SHIT I don't have enough bowl for my pav!!
 Instructions say FORM SOFT PEAKS
PILE HIGH (I'm obedient and follow the rules)
Then I chickened out and thought I'd better flatten it abit,
Luckily I did because it didn't spread that much
I had enough to do individual ones and fancy edging
 LiCaBlE utensil...eyes popping out
ewwww the cornflour is raw, everything tasted nice
but that raw cornflour taste came out and whacked me
between the eyes!!
Large Pav out of the oven
 Little Pavs cooked-nice huh
Definitely need to purchase a free standing electric beater,
my shoulders are hanging by their tendons after
holding the electric hand beater up for two lots
of 15-20 minute mixing
Its yummy but I need to cook the meringue more
Thank you to the Lovely Linda for wetting
my appetite to make my own pavlova.
I think the homemade eggs makes a huge difference
