WOYWW #293

I've discovered why my desk is very boring compared to a lot of you, I have serious OCD when it comes to my working desk, when I finish a project I put everything away. When I first started stamping I didn't usually do that and everything would pile up and it made me lose my mojo to be so untidy on my desk. I remember having to create on my desk the size of a 12 x 12 space.
So behind me are two tables and shelves that hold what I currently use and any newly acquired stash, this desk is on the left.....
.......this is to the right, the folders to the bottom right hold my Design Team projects for each team I am in. Darkroom Door Stamps newly acquired to play in Swaps this year hopefully.

To answer a question last week about the mystery bag on my desk and its contents, sorry to say there is no cake in there Julia, it is protecting the base of my light when I am spraying product....teee heee

Joining Julia's Stamping Ground to see more desks around the world and what they are up to.

  1. Oh Bridget, it's a perennial crafter's problem isn't it?You have loads of lovely gear, and you create such a lot. I have been known to get a big box and swipe it all in there when things have gotten too much, and I want to create, but the table is cluttered. Then when the mood strikes I have a huge clean-up. Paper crafting really is like sewing. You have to spread out. It's just plain messy. It's ok!
    have a good week.

  2. I love your tidy space - I generally put my stamps away when I've finished a project too, or my floor looks like it looked most of last year... am determined to keep it as empty as possible this year!! We'll see... love those goodies on your desk and the cards look great. Helen 5

  3. I have serious OCD, too, and my table must always be clean. I put everything away once I use it. Sometimes I'm working away and find I've already put something away I still need out. That makes more work for me, but my table is so small, I don't have the luxury of clutter.

I can certainly appreciate your desks. I can appreciate how you have things all separated. It's needed to keep everything in context.

Thanks for visiting me already. I was off playing with Squiggles when Julia posted, or I might have beaten you (or maybe not).

  4. I usually tidy away stamps when I have finished with them but the rest of the stuff I use just seems to be out for a while longer! I have a huge dining room table that I work on but usually end up creating in a tiny space on there too! Have a great week - Sunshine Girl #13

  6. No judgment here : ). I usually have a few projects going at a time so it's difficult to declare all work done lol. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. Happy WOYWW! #6

  7. I tend to clean up as I go. Having such a small space makes me keep it relatively clean. The size of your supplies and having two tables is giving me crafter envy.

  8. Your photos are giving me itchy-twitchy fingers wanting to poke around and see everything you've got! :D Is there anything better than getting new toys??? Nope! Enjoy and have a fabulous week!

    Happy Crafting!

  9. Now if I had the space you have and the tables you have, maybe I wouldn't be stamping in a 12 x 12 space........ but then again....

  10. Hi Bridget, you know I always work on a 12 x 12 space but wish I didn't, maybe I could rethink my work area this year. Thanks for the visit and your question about ironing on stamps. There are only certain ones you can do this technique on. The stamps I used are pure rubber so that's okay but some synthetic stamps will melt so you need to know what they are made of. You can iron over Clarity stamps but generally if they are synthetic I don't risk it. Pleased you like the technique, I will be using these pieces soon. I have been doing lots of test pieces recently in earlier posts if you are interested. Have a great week with much happy crafting, Angela x 33

  12. Oh, then I'm OCD too! I always clear up after each project...it drives me bonkers to work amidst clutter. Your desk is looking good :-)

  13. I have found a solution to the limited space problem by going down to my local craft shop once a week for what they call Open Crafting. We can take any of our own projects and work and chat at the same time. There are usually only a few of us so I can spread out to work in comparative luxurious space for once. At home, my work space is usually less than 12x12. My aim is to be tidy, but I never seem to succeed in that. Sorry you are suffering so badly from the humidity. When it is cold you can always add layers of clothing and turn the heat up, but there is a limit to how far you can go to get comfortable in that kind of humidity and still be able to answer the door. Hope it cools off a little for you. xx Maggie #27

  14. Hello Bridget - I think it's easier crafting when my space is tidier ( well for me anyway) - i also use my dining room as a craft room as well. Don't use it often when just two of us but I do need to be able to clear up when it is needed. it gets out of hand now and then but I do try and keep it reasonably tidy. I have to get up and down for stuff but I think that's good for me :-) Thanks for visiting. Anne x #37

  15. I so agree with you about tidying up after each job! I find if I don't do that I get overwhelmed, and like you said, lose my creative mojo! I make an effort to keep my desk space as tidy as possible and it allows my creativity to flow more freely! Have a lovely week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #47

  16. Lately I've become a really messy girl. My actual space for working is very small and I used to always try and keep it very neat. These days It's always messy and falling off the edges of my desk. I really need to get back to being more tidy!

  17. I usually tidy as I go too. I often forget to take a picture at the mid craft mess stage so my desk ends up looking horribly neat all the time. Thanks for your earlier visit.

  18. I have no choice but to clear up, otherwise we couldn't eat! I would love to be able to keep my sewing machine out all the time, I'd get so much more done.

  19. Hi Bridgit, happy WOYWW. Super tidy desk. I too discovered that my mojo works best when I clear away the debris from the last project and you also don't lose things - tucked inside something else. I'm still messy when I'm working and can have more that two projects on the go at once. Great stash of goodies on your desk, Cheers RobynO#51, thanks for visiting

  20. Hello Bridgit :) I wish I was a bit more like you. I have a very small space to work in..basically a larger closet. It is perpetually a mess...the floor for sure. Paper bits and trimmings of things everywhere! Happy WOYWW! Shel#56

  21. You've got a great crafting space there and enough stash to keep you busy all year! I am the same as you about my work space - I always put things away, clean, dust and sweep up every time I finish a task - sometimes half way through a task too! Nice to meet another tidy person on here! Hope you have a great week,

  24. Thanks for visiting Betsy and me this week Bridget.
I have made myself become more aware of putting things away, once I'm finished with a project. Ruining a couple of things, that were left out, made me realize that I need to be more tidy......LOL It doesn't always happen..........but it is a work in progress.

  27. So glad to meet another crafter who puts things away. Must admit if I have a project on the go, it goes into a basket, so I can just start up again where I left off, but I just can't leave everything out on my desk.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  29. Hi Bridget, What a great workspace; don't apologize for having a neat desk! If it works for you then that's whats important! I noticed the "Art" stamp right away. It looks very cool.

You have a great big, beautiful space.

  31. I do the same thing, have a complete clean up between projects. I find it helps to "reset" and get ready for the next thing. Plus, like you said, things aren't so apt to get lost

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the nice comments.

    Happy creating and happy woyww,

  33. I think this is the way I need to go now! My desk is the way it is as I tidied everything away from the project I've been working on - it has freed my mind for the next thing!! My GD doesn't like her photo I think because her lovely hair isn't showing, also she has two teeth missing! The brightly coloured things at the back of my desk are labelled Distress Inks. Have a great week Thanks for visiting, Chrisx 53

  38. You are a girl to my heart! I, too, clean up after every project (or before, when the mess of the former day is still there because I had to go preparing diner or something...) I get comments on my 'tidy' desk all the time... but it's just my way of working. I was beginning to think it was just me...so I am glad I'm not the only one! I love Darkroom Door stamps too, they are so wonderfully detailed.
