T for Tuesday - Maritime Museum South Bank

Last Friday I had to drop hubby into town so I decided to go for a visit down by the river in town called Southbank. It is a cultural, educational and recreational precinct in the heart of the city in a suburb called South Brisbane. I went looking for postcards. I parked close to the Maritime Museum and I saw this sign outside the building of the Phonetic Alphabet, I love the explanations below if you can see them

This is the walk bridge that goes over the river, another day when I have time I will take a walk over it.
Saw this as well and couldnt make out what it was, but it was a beautiful wooden sculpture.
There are some gorgeous archways along the way, with bougainvillaea vines growing all along.
Found some great free postcards to do a project with, will showcase when it is done.

  1. Sounds like you had an interesting time. I am always grateful to have learnt the phonetic alphabet back when I was in the Air Training Corps as a teenager. We also learnt the names of cloud formations, but I've forgotten that info, lol. Happy T Day :D

  2. I love how Yankee is dragging anchor. Some of these are wonderful, and I really like the phonetic definitions, too. I know most of them, but not (P)apa or (U)niform. Thanks for sharing what looks like a beautiful area.

My husband will appreciate the alphabet sign as he uses that kind of spelling often spelling our Polish last name full of z's and more ;-)

  8. I always wondered where the alphabet jargon in military movies came from when they had to spell something over the radio for clarity....now I know! Gorgeous photos of your day out...love those vined archways and the wooden sculpture!
