WOYWW # 359 - Marbling with Shaving Cream

the last time I played desks was February, where did the time go? I must say I've been busy with my mums 75th birthday surprise party, A few jobs lined up craft related. A few craft projects I've started. Needing to sort out my craft room badly. Two wedding requests to do.

The anniversary week is 364 which falls on May 25th. The ATC Swap will be held on that week, Julia will post more details which I will share if you are wanting to take part. I will take part this year. so if you want to swap with me let me know your address and I will make one for you. Email me your address

So this week I've been trying to make some marbling on bookmarks which I have never really been able to master. it smells nice but was a huge mess LOL. Everyone else seems to master it. I see where I've gone wrong from the first link below-I didnt flatten the shaving cream LOL. I've found the cheaper no name brand shaving cream has the nicest smell.
Here are some links if you wanted to give it a go:

  1. love your shaving foam strips- I have had varied success with this technique and in fact it is mostly the smell I DON'T like, which most people find odd. Hey ho, we're all different! Not sure I am going to have time for mass atc production this year; will see if I can "find" some time somewhere... under the sofa maybe??! 2. I've not tried doing this & I think because it all seems a little to messy for me.
Happy Crafting & I've sent you an email regarding an atc.

  6. Yes I WAS far too excited. Tried to rectify the link via my tablet but that went wrong so had to get up and do it on the main PC. Looks like just the HTML at the end of the first link went to capitals for some reason as if you change that to lower case it works! What a pickle!
Yep using my tablet to link then try to rectify didn't quite work so I HAD to get up and do it on the main PC in the end!
Love that rose and the marbling with shaving foam.
BJ was #4, then #16 finally #17 but may end up as #15 if my incorrect links are removed!

  8. Wow, that shaving cream technique looks messy but fun! It's a lighter effect than using marbling inks, I like it ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

  12. Hi Bridget, First what a beautiful rose you found. Your marbelling is looking good. You've certainly got lots of re-inkers to play with. I've not done this super technique for a long time. Must get out the foam again. I would be interested in the ATC swap but don't know how this one works. Barbx #26

  16. Hi Bridget, this is another technique I'm determined to have a go at. I've got 3 cans of cheap shaving foam and loads of inks, just need to set aside a couple of hours to actually do it. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #8 xxx

  18. That looks like a lot of fun. I don't think I've playing with shaving cream since my kids were little. Maybe now that the weather is better that would be a fun project to do outside.

  19. I've never tried that effect before but I see what you mean a non flattened area doesn't create that marble effects but they still look good hugs Nikki 3

  20. Hi Bridget, your shaving foam strips are lovely, great colour combination. It is a messy technique but I think the result is usually worth the mess. Oh, and I also found that the cheapest shaving foam had the freshest scent :) Have a great week. Elizabeth x #31

  23. I was also working with Shaving Cream last week. Mixed results. I don't know if living in a desert means I need to modify things. What is the drying time. I ended up with very pretty paper that I know will come in handing in the future. Will definitely try again. Such fun.

  25. Well as you have read I'm messy, and I think I am more creative when I'm making a mess. I didn't know you could do this with shaving foam, I might have to try it out.

  27. Try the starch and Brusho technique too - I think the results you got are just fine, maybe not what you imagined but all art is subjective and your bookmarks are lovely.

  28. I love shaving foam and agree the cheapest seems to work best. I drop acrylic ink and swirl...and then usually end up with dye all over the hands too!!
Glad the weather is starting to cool a little over there for you now.

  31. I love the color scheme and freeform shapes in your marbled bookmarks, even though you didn't achieve what you wanted. I read about this technique in one of my books, but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the words of wisdom you left on my blog!
