Tea for Tuesday - Beef Bourguignon

I wanted to show my friend that my glass cup washed in the dishwasher over and over again did not make it cloudy like hers did. We dont know why some dishwashers do that and some don't. Does yours?

Macleay Island has some awesome places to eat. Last week you saw what we ate at the Fish and Chips shop across the road from our house. This meal above was from the Boat Club, the meals are cooked by volunteers, the whole club is run by volunteers. Every Friday night is meal night. 1st Friday of the month is Fish and Chip night and its always packed to 100+ members and friends. All the other Fridays is only open to members. This meal above was Morrocan Beef, I didnt like it as the meat was tough but it was tasty.

Last week was Beef Bourguignon, I helped prepare but unfortunately I went away to craft camp so I wasn't able to eat the food i helped prepare. I did come home and make it myself yesterday and it was scrumptious. You can see the camp food that they made for us in future posts.

I used this recipe from Cafe Delites. This is the Julia Child's recipe she talks about

We have some wonderful talented artists on Macleay Island. We went to an opening of the Fired Earth 2019 Pottery Exhibition on Friday 22nd March 2019 and saw these wonderful creations.
I cant find the photos I took lol.

  1. Hi, that sounds pretty awesome using volunteers for the restaurant. Your dish looks really delicious!
I have never used a dish washer except one time when I was vacation two years ago. our lake house, where we will move to soon does have one-so this will be a new thing-how to use it lol
    Happy T wishes Kathy

  2. WE get spots on our glasses as our water isn't so wonderful. We have a well and the water picks up minerals from the ground. But that food looks SOOOO yummy. I would like to try it. Happy T day Bridget. Hugs-Erika

  4. I don't have a dishwasher in this house and there is no room for one, either. I wonder if the hardness of the water has anything to do with it, or how clean you keep your dishwasher. I've read you should use a product to keep the dishwasher clean every so often because of grease buildup. This is the first house I've owned where I didn't have a dishwasher.

How wonderful that the club uses volunteers to create the food. Sounds like you are a fabulous cook, because I would never be able to prepare that dish. Thanks for sharing it (which has made me VERY hungry) with us for T this Tuesday, Bridget.

  6. Your food does look delicious, it seems a good idea to have a food club and share the cooking.
It may be the water supply going through the dishwasher, I never put glasses in mine here in our area the UK.
    Happy T day wishes Bridget.

  7. Sounds like a great restaurant you have and the food looks very tempting.
We had a dishwasher in England and some glasses went cloudy, I always assumed it was the salt you had to use!!!
Have a great week, Jan x

  11. Hmm, I haven't got a dish washer so i wouldn't know, but I do know that supermarkets sell dish washer products to keep glasses clear. So perhaps your friends should use that. It probably has to do with the water hardness. Like you would get lime stone deposits in your kettle, glasses get a thin layer of that too. Perhaps. I don't really know.
That food looks very nice. I will have a look at that beef bourgignon recipe.
Looking forward to seeing the photos of the fired pottery exhibition when you find them.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

  12. It may be the detergent used instead of the dishwasher itself. Or perhaps how gentle a cycle you're using? We have a dishwasher, but I rarely use it.

Your food looks tasty :) Happy T Tuesday!

  13. Those meals look delicious especially the Beef Bourguignon!

Our glasses always come out clean from our dishwasher. One of the other dishwashers we used to own gave us difficulty but it changed once we changed detergents. I use FINISH tablets which seem to have cleared up the problem.

    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  14. Pitting on discoloration on glass may be due to the water. Water with a high metal content like iron or manganese may be the culprit. Besides dishwasher soap, using a product like Jet Dry may prevent the water from sitting on the glasses. I think you can use distilled white vinegar in the Jet Dry compartment as a cheaper alternative.

Wow on the food. It all sounds so good. Happy T Day!

  15. Ha, now I'm really hungry! delicious looking foods... I too had the dishwasher problem you describe. in our case, I think it was more because of minerals in the water rather than the dishwasher. Happy Belated T day!
