We decided to go down the coast to our favourite holiday place which was an hour away from home, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Its called the Theme Park Capital of Australia because the put all the theme parks there. Movieworld, Dreamworld - the home of Big Brother, Sea World, Wet n Wild, Whitewater World. The reason for this is the climate is awesome and there is more sunshine in this state for longer during the year and its just a tourist and holiday destination.
The surfboard above is advertising the Commonwealth games to be held there in 2018
This is the view from the seaside boardwalk looking inland
The sand and seaside view
Some kind tourist offered to take our photo as I was snapping photos on my ipad, I kindly obliged, we didnt really want our photo taken but as they offered so nicely we said yes and took their photo as well LOL
Some of the gorgeous hotels
We ended up going to a theme park, Sea-world, Michael has never been to ours and it's one of the nicest I've seen in Australia, not that there are many.
The two large penguins just stood there, we couldn't tell if they were staring at us staring at them or sleeping standing up. the one sitting down on the stones is looking after its egg. One penguin was very funny, he kept stealing stones from another grate to take to his wife's grate and she already had too much. He kept getting barked at by the occupant.

The seal show with Buddy, he was very funny and clever.
He barked, clapped and carried stuff out on que
The Dolphin show, this photo showed 2 dolphins holding their trainer aloft, they are very powerful animals and did summersaults and swam so fast around the water arena.
The last show was the power seadoos, they did flips and summersalts and triple turns, very scary
A day well spent, we bought a season pass to three parks so we can go back as many times as we want. Our ticket takes us into Seaworld, Wet n Wild and Movieworld, it was $10 cheaper than buying a day pass, you'd be mad not to buy the season pass if you lived here.
I love living near all our holiday spots that we are able to drive to for a day or a weekend to enjoy.
It truly is Queensland the Sunshine state. I am already getting a nice tan just from standing outside hanging out the clothes.
Linking up with Elisabeth and Bluebeard for T for Tuesday
EDITED 22Oct2014: Julia commented on why I took photos with my ipad and not my normal DSLRs. Well we needed my Ipad for directions and googling places so it was the Ipad Air that won out and it takes pretty amazing photos
I hope this is NOTHING like OUR Sea World. There are two or three in the states and they have the worst reputation now that they have been shown to lie under oath and show no remorse for their employees who have been killed by killer whales. Bad for business, but as long as people are willing to go, the carnage and mistreatment of the whales will never stop.
ReplyDeleteI read a book once about the Gold Coast. It sounded like it was the ideal place in Australia to visit and live. Your photos confirmed that. It looks like a lovely vacation spot. Glad you enjoyed yourself.
I've had people offer to take my photo with my friends and I always so no thanks. I don't want my photo out there on the internet anymore than I have to.
Thanks for sharing this incredible vacation with us for T this Tuesday.
What a fantastic place to spend time.. great! Thank you for sharing with us!

oh these wonderful photos make me miss summer and the beach so much! here in the U.S. of course we are heading toward winter...those beaches look gorgeous, and what a fun holiday to visit Sea World and so on! love the penguins! happy T day my dear...♥
ReplyDeleteLovely post Bridget. I haven't been to a SeaWorld for a very long time...Since the kids were little and that seems a lifetime ago... I didn't think so at the time but now i think its sad that the animals are made to live in such a confined space and made to perform for us. It must be like living in jail instead of having the whole ocean to swim in. But i do know that people need to be exposed to these animals or they will never care about them and want to save them so i guess it is for a good cause.. Thank you so much for sharing and Happy Tday! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteHello and Happy T Day! I love these pictures, so fun to go there. I've been there but my kids haven't. They would so love to see the show.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and thanks for sharing.
Ah one of my favourite places ever, I lived across the water from all of this and watched the seaplane take off and land all the time. They are really caring of the animals there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fond memories.
Hugs Eliza
I went to Sea World in Florida in the US with my son when he was 12 (he's 39 now) and this reminded me of our trip with my folks. Looks so warm there! ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day! :)
I like Sea World, even if it has gotten bad press in the past. The grandkids loved it.
ReplyDeleteI have ALWAYS wanted to visit two places, Greece and Australia, so your pictures have really made me smile......and want to buy a plane ticket....LOL
Happy T-day
