Friday Fences #24

I am moving all my photography posts to this blog HERE
Surfers Paradise up on the Gold Coast, this view from our apartment showing the hotel across the road with a 12 foot fence blocking out the street view for hotel guests. We could see them all in their balcony and frolicking in the pool area as we were on the 5th level.
I love that hotel, looks like a mini palace to me.

Water, Water, Water everywhere

Friday Fences #23 and Skywatch Friday Season 5, Episode 34
This is the pond at the back of my house, its a water catchment area that flows downstream towards our dam that gets treated for our drinking water. It has rained and rained and rained this whole week and is not about to let up, there are flood warnings out and towns near us have been evacuated,
Those floaty red thingys is to stop anyone going over the edge at the far top of the picture to the right
This is the edge but you cant see it for all
the water that is flowing over it.
This is the street light at 9am, it was very confused, normally it goes off at 6am, notice there is no sky!
This is the lake and its made an island and the sky is
one smooth cloudy canvas

Friday Fences #22

As you can see this Water Dragon is on this side of the fence.
His name is Warwick, named after Warwick Capper
For the Australians who follow football, he was named after him
because Warwick the Water Dragon is a showoff
and always poses for photos, I was only a foot away
from him when I took this photo.
As you can see hubby stayed on the other side of the
fence to Warwick as he raced away from me,
I can just read what was on Warwick's mind as he raced off
(only one photo for you, lady-KISS MY A**E)

Friday Fences #21

Guess what I found behind this fence on Hope Island, Gold Coast
Million dollar boats, cruisers you name it.
Walking by all these boats just felt
like the air was dripping in money, some of them were spectacular
hmmmmm wish, wish, wish
I did live on a yacht for a weekend, couldn't find my feet when I came
back to shore but it was devine.

Friday Fences #20

This was taken on our recent holiday to
Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland.
Our hotel is to the left outside the picture. This hotel is called Skypoint-probably the tallest building here.  I wanted to go up but I wasn't in the best of health so will take a raincheck. It boasts 360 degree views and looks awesome. The fence at the bottom of the photo is very crude, you can see a wooden one and a steel one, one would think that this being a touristy place, that they would make the fence similar or neat at least.
But alas it is such a laid back society up north, everyone accepts it!!

Friday Fences #19

This is one tall fence, not sure what its trying to keep out because the beach is on the other side of it.
This lady is part of the Meter Maids Surfers Paradise. Located on the Gold Coast, Queensland this is a very touristy place and in 1965 they installed meters which became very unpopular so they introduced the Meter Maids who strolled the streets dressed like this putting coins into the meters ??? why even put the meters up in the first place if they are going to pay for it LOL.
This photo cost me $5 but it did go to Breast Cancer Fundraising, I did get 3 photos out of it when a lovely tourist volunteered to take our photo.

Friday Fences # 18

I found this fence whilst on holiday up on the Gold Coast. This was was on Mt Tambourine, a gorgeous place and a must visit one. They have some gorgeous unusual fences up there.

This is the house behind the fence, the colouring matched as well, we tried to see what was inside so that maybe when we came back one day we would stay there, but no one was home.
Beautiful plant of some sort in front of some of the fence
It was a bed and breakfast place, the furniture inside was lovely and antique in style

Friday Fences #16

Here is a montage/collage of some of the hundreds of photos I took on that Skywalk, the tree roots were tremendous and so high up but an awesome view of nature nonetheless.

Drove up to Mt Tambourine on the Gold Coast Hinterland and went on the Skywalk. This is one spectacular rainforest with birds chirping and a feeling of such intense one with nature, an exhilarating experience to say the least.
Of course this fence is one that fences one in or up in this case. Its is very high up!
This cantilever walkout was ok until I got to the end and looked down and the bridgeway swayyyyed and there was nothing holding it up from below, it was just hanging out there with the help of the above pole in the middle of the walkway. The picture below is from that pole out to the end. There doesn't look like much room to walk around the post from where I took this picture but by the time you get to it you want to hold onto the post LOL and there is room

I have never had a fear of heights but being on the Skywalk certainly told me otherwise. Each time I looked down my knees went weak and my heart rate went up or out but definitely not in my chest.

Found some really nice fences, so will be sharing them in the future.

Friday Fences #15

While interstate on holiday I found some gorgeous fences in Brisbane that rival the non fence capital I live in
I wanted to share this very unusual mountain I photographed on our 11 hour drive up as well
Most of my photos were drive by as we didnt have time to stop, there were hardly any cars on this highway which was great but at the same time scary if you were driving at night.
Check out all the fences that Jan and Jer have links to here.

Friday Fences #10

This strange recycled fence is down behind our place
again it doesn't keep anything out
so I have no idea why it was put up
it's made of a sort of plastic
We had a bit of drama yesterday not far from home
what normally takes 1 minute to drive from where
the bomb squad were to home took me 45 minutes
due to the road closure

fences and scenery behind them

Friday Fences #9

Happy Thanksgiving to you all !!
(because its Thursday for the Northern Hemisphere
when it is Friday for us down south)
So glad you all enjoyed my wannabe fences last week here

This is my back fence with a flower peering over it,
our neighbour planted some flowers which is actually
a public area but from the other side it looks wonderful
Here is a larger view of the above scene
...and this is it looking from other side of the fence

Friday Fence 8

Today I wanted to show you the wanna be fences I am up against
but I must say they are very nice ones.
Instead of fences in front of houses we are only allowed 'natural fences'
consisting of hedges and plants

This is a fence at the back of a property, fences are allowed at back and sides
and if you have a corner block you are allowed more
ok I spied a fence behind this one

Hope over to Janis' Blog to see more gorgeous
fences and scenery behind them
