I am sending a call out for handmade Cards for the Troops, they can be generic cards or birthday cards with our without sentiments inside.

Thinking of You

Birthdays
Love you

and cards they can write in to send back home

These will be boxed up and sent over to a Chaplain I went to school with over in Afghanistan, to give out to the troops to send back home to their families. If you'd like to contribute to this worthy cause and get more information, email me or leave a comment on this post with your email and I will contact you.

I will also be taking cards that have been sent to you that you do not know what to do with and remount onto a new backing card stock. Thank you to all those who have responded so far, your generosity and commitment knows no bounds and it will be appreciated far and wide by both the sender and recipient.
There are no news agencies or card shops where our military goes in war torn areas, so to show our appreciation for giving up their lives and time for us, this is how we show them in a small way that we  care.

Another production line, only this time it took me 1 hour to make 15 cards, complete with bling. So that would mean that each card was made in less than 5 minutes, it's more productive to do a production line crafting LOL

It's a busy time for cardmakers who make cards for the troops. I've been busy as always doing my production line cardmaking.

Not sure how this page will turn out as this is my first time using this blog

 

I cased this card from Andrea Walford, I changed some of the elements, but I loved her design and colours so much I didn't want to lose the Christmas effect.

Of course those of you who know me, knows that I am not going to stop at just a complete case but will make a case with different colours etc so keep watching for other samples.

A lot of questions have been thrown at me about why I make so many cards. First of all I love making cards and wanted to find a way to utilize them somewhere.

These are the three non profit organisations that I send my cards to Operation Write Home (OWH) and From Our Hearts and Any Soldier/Airman/Marine, I also support the Australian Troops too.

The cards are blank and get sent to the troops and they in turn write in them and send them home to their loved ones, it is hard for them to get cards to write home and having these handmade cards sent to them encourages them to write home, boosts their morale and keeps them in touch with family back home.

It is very rewarding making these handmade cards for them, knowing that in a roundabout way they are all giving of their lives to help make this world a better place.

I am quite enjoying this challenge of 10minute cards, especially around Christmas time when most card makers try and make multiples or a huge number for the holiday season. 

 

and I couldn't just do one of these cards, I had to try another colour

WOYWW #136

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday 

Well I have managed to get myself a craft desk whilst on holidays, hubby found this fold up table at Officeworks in Brisbane and said he needed it for fishing and that I could use it while on holiday. YIPPEE. As you can see I have the bare minimum here, only brought stuff I need to put together, some of these kits are 2 years old that I had prepared and after my shoulder operation I couldn't do much so out they came with me. Of course these cards are going to the Military overseas so they can send back to their families, that is my voluntary part using my craft.

 3 cards for the Troops and 3 photos boxes, one for my mum, and other two for friends

My aim for 2012 is to make 20 cards per month for the troops as well as using up all the UFOs (unfinished objects) I have that I prepared a few years ago. When I get back home from my holidays I will make a tutorial on the boxes I have made from scratch above as I have been having lots of comments about them and would like you all to have one to make for yourselves as they are easy as to make TRULY!!!

WOYWW #135

What's on your Work Desk Wednesday

Well I am hoping this uploads on its own as I may not have internet to be able to do it. This is what I am packing to take with me to visit my family for a short visit. Last week you saw the photos spread out on my desk here 

 When I go away I always take projects that I need to put together so I don't lug around machinery and too much stuff, (hubby gives me the stink eye cos he needs room for his fishing gear.
I caught on tv one day a new place to send my cards for the Australian Troops. First one is through Paper Lady. Stockings for Soldiers Project which is on facebook and was started by Selena Smith and Michelle Potter in 2009  so some of those packs below, when completed are going to the troops, it's a round the year project for me. I don't stop making Cards for the Troops any time during the year because the Troops never stop protecting us, no matter which country we live in.
My brother is in the Australian Army Reserves and my cousin's husband is in the Australian Navy.
Hubby served in the US Navy so I am surrounded by Military.

 The start of the pile of non crafting stuff, thats hubbys clothes there, mine couldn't fit on the lounge LOL

December/January is jam making for me, I only make apricot jam, still mastering it LOL. My friend Nola is a wonderful From-Scratch-Cook and she has taught me alot. Since I tried all her homemade cooking I don't like store bought stuff, but her jam is to die for and after 3 years of making it I think I am getting there.

Bottle sterilized and ready to go. (shhh don't tell her I burnt two pots this time, she told me I mustn't leave the pot but didnt tell me why-well I soon found out)

Jam packed and ready to take for gifts to the family, I've already given half away to friends
