A Month of Letters - Day 29 Leap Year - The final leg

February is a Month of Letters where we send at least one piece of mail a day via snail mail to someone.

Well the month has ended and what a month it has been with high drama for me. I only set out to write 29 pieces of mail for February. I then found letters I needed to reply to that I had received from last year and new mail came in from Lettermo. I managed to mail not only a letter a day but several which I posted about HERE in several posts.

My total count for the month was 207...and it didn't even feel like that. I felt really connected especially to those that I had reconnected with from school 30+ years ago. I also replied to most emails via snail mail. Just goes to show how much and how many people I communicate with.
Week 1 was 31 letters

Week 2 -3 was  41
This project and postcrossing is wonderful for children whose innovative teachers have signed the class up for trading postcards from around the world. I was lucky to draw the above address to send to the US to a class of students. I enclosed a few cards not just one.

Below will be an ongoing project for which I signed up to. 26 x 5 year olds will each receive a postcard from me in this parcel showing various aspects of Australia and animals etc that they can learn from in their class.

I didnt want to miss out on the leap day postmark so I sent hubby and myself an envelope each. Mine is empty but hubby's has a note inside, the stamps is the year of the monkey as that is his birth year.

Week 4 and total for the month = 207
I took all these envelopes and box to the post office and left it there for my post lady to hand cancel, I went back 2 hours later and picked them up and brought them home to photograph and then took them back to post.

These are the badges I've achieved

My desk/dining table which was dedicated to this project during the process. I have food and liquid to sustain me LOL. One would think that after all this writing I would put pen down and stop and be tired, but it has had the opposite effect on me and I want to continue. No doubt there will be letters arriving in march for this project that I have promised to answer. So for me the journey isnt ending but it is just beginning. Here's to another year of snail mail and forgetting about technology.

See you next year Lettermo and InCoWriMo

A Month of Letters - Week 2 - Tweed Heads

Week 2 at Tweed Heads where I was doing my course, each morning I would go to a new beach to look at the waves etc and get some nice fresh sea air and clear my head ready for 9 hours of information overload.
I found this postbox by the ocean and it had this view, it was a blowy day and the waves were really crashing, which was a lovely sound.
So I'm doing catchup photos as I wrote previously that I could not get on the computer or anything technology due to a massive headache and nausea when I tried. Some days I just had to lie and sleep and some day I could write. It was quite debilitating

Tomorrow is the last day and I have a huge post for Month of Letters

A Month of Letters - Week 2 - Broadbeach

While I was away down studying in Tweed Heads and living with my daughter at Broadbeach so I didnt have to commute 1.5hrs each way to my course, I found some nice funny postcards and sent them away for my month of letters. I was on the lookout for postboxes and couldnt find any on the streets but saw this one at the shopping centre. It had a funny door for oversize letters to be collected.
There were rows and rows of postboxes, this was 1/3 of it. The Gold Coast area has lots of high rise hotels that have permanent residents so I guess a postbox is the way to go.

WOYWW 351 - Letter of the Month update

This is my desk upstairs where I was relegated to during my strange illness week. The first week of February saw me away down south in the next state to do a one week course on management. By Thursday I had a humongous headache probably from information overload. That headache stayed with me until Sunday. Monday and Tuesday I could hardly look at anything technology-TV, Computer, Ipad, Iphone. Everything gave me a horrendous headache, made me nauseous and wanting to throw up. So needless to stay I stayed in bed, it was all I could do. I couldn't even write letters. I don't do lying in bed well. So upstairs is where I've been for the last week when I eventually was able to write and watch tv-still couldnt come onto the computer or use the ipad.

See that brown board to the left? I got that free from the supermarket when I bought some herbs, its now my ipad stand woohoo. I have no idea how my desk got so untidy hahahaha or why I have to use that 150 x 150cm top to its max.

The black pouch is my see through pencil case, I love it-got it from Officeworks. The red noodle box to the right houses my outgoing mail ready to post.

Below shows the incoming mail I need to reply to at week 4 of Lettermo. The pile on the right of 7 are what has arrived from lettermo participants that I need to reply to. I guess they will still be arriving long after February if these are arriving now at week 3.

For most of you following my blog (when I was able to get onto the computer), know I've been participating in Lettermo this month. That is what my desk is full of. Below are letters I've written so far in the 3 weeks of the challenge. I have connected with school mates, fulfilled my Postcrossing quota and posted snail mail instead of email friends I've usually contact. Its been wonderful!! Below photos show the outgoing of week 2 and 3
I love my curries as you all know! So I made this coconut chicken and potato curry specially so it could go into a pie, sadly I bought the wrong pastry for the pies so I ate the curry in lettuce leaves just like Sang Choy Bao, its so nice and light to eat it this way and I ate a whole head of lettuce hahaha yum!!!

A world of technology in a funny video for you all called "Pass the Salt", sadly this is our world now.

I've always wanted to know what Rosellas are and what you can do with them so Down to Earth has finally shown us hers.

I've always wanted to make Eggplant kasundi as the bottles I buy are soo expensive, $15 so when I saw Simply By the Beach post it on facebook I just had to share it here too.

A Month of Letters - Day 12 - Ana and Paulo - Parents of Postcrossing

I have always wanted to send a thank you to the creators of Postcrossing but never got around to asking for their address until Ana posted about Month of Letters. So I asked her for her snail mail address and this is what she is getting.

I decorated this shoe for a challenge and made it into a postcard.

A Month of Letters - Day 11 - Lois Hannan

This postcard went off to Lois Hannan as part of Month of Letters participants that we choose to write to. This one will be a surprise as she posted her address for all the send to her.

I have done that as well so I wonder how many I will get as surprises.
